Schroon Lake ski weekend

The house we stayed in on Schroon Lake, NY for the ski weekend. Tim and Barb, Ben and his girlfriend Megan, Nancy, Tim's sister and his brother Bob and wife Judy.

Schroon Lake on the Saturday morning covered in a thick layer of ice. Pretty cold, but the wind made it feel several more degrees below minus 17 Celcius.

The complex of 'condo's' on Schroon Lake where we stayed. Adirondack Condo's.

This sign certainly did not apply to Nancy, Bob and I when we went
snow-shoeing on the lake. Bob and I had antique rattan snowshoes like one sees in old books on the American pioneers. Although awkward to walk in, as I felt like a duck with excessively broad feet, they were great on the soft snow. Crossing the few patches of ice where the ice fishermen had cleared roads for their trucks was a treacherous path, so we found either snow drifts across them or where snowmobiles had cast some snow. It was very good exercise.

At dinner table. lt to rt: Bob, Judy, Tim, Barbara and Megan. nancy was on my immediate left out of picture and Ben between Barb and Megan also out of picture. In front of me is one of my favourite American dishes; 5 Carb! Banana, Pineapple, Cranberry jelly, Pumpkin and Apple.I love it. Apart from that, sundry beers and Californian Merlot.

Breakfast coffee and a toast to the night before by Tim.

Four Ice Yachts belongong to a friend of Bob's. He is a keen ice yachtsman. The lake was too thick with snow, so there was nowhere to sail. The one in front is a two seater and tough to see, but on the right is a single and then two more back right. That is their Lake House in the background.

Bob with his antique snowshoes and Nancy with 2014 snowshoes. Bit of a difference!

All of us shortly before the long drive home to Connecticut. Lt to Rt: Me, Ben, Megan, Nancy at the back; Judy, Bob, Tim and Barbara up front. looking happy this time. A good weekend was had by all.
